Built-in Vintage Mic Preamps & Tone Shaping

With Volt you can easily add the rich, full sound of iconic UA mic preamps. Each Volt Series USB Interface uses class-leading 24-bit/192 kHz audio conversion for Mac, PC, iPad, and iPhone.

With the ultra-clear onboard mic preamps, you can capture a classic vocal and characterful recording, enhanced by the Vintage Mic Preamp Mode. Few sounds can compare to a vintage Universal Audio 610 tube preamp, famously used to record the likes of Ray Charles, Beach Boy’s, Johnny Cash, Adele, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen.

Volt gives you the rich, full sound of this classic UA mic/line/instrument preamp, thanks to the built-in tube emulation circuitry.

For producers that want to add energy or excitement to their recordings, the '76 Series Volt Interfaces push the boundaries even further with a built-in 1176 analog compressor.

On each of the Volt 176, Volt 276 and Volt 476, you will find 3 different compressor presets based on the iconic UA 1176 vintage compression unit per preamp.

VOC - Add sparkle and that “extra something” for vocal recordings.
GTR - Perfect for not “muddying” your guitar sound.
FAST - A fast threshold, ideal for drums and other “attacking” sounding instruments.
OFF - Bypass the 1176 compressor so you can capture “raw” recordings.

Use this built-in compressor to add clarity and punch to vocals, guitars or any other instrument/sound sources you can think of!

Seamlessly Integrates With Your Studio Setup

With each model featuring a USB-C 2.0 connection, the Volt Series can easily integrate into the large majority of home studio setups. For a plug-and-play experience, the Volt 1, Volt 2, Volt 176 and Volt 276 are all bus-powered, meaning they draw power from the machine you plug them into.

Volt are compatible with either Mac, PC and iOS devices (Apple Camera Connection Kit sold separately) and each comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. There is no need to worry about opening the box to find you can’t use your shiny new interface!

If you are finding that your computer can’t provide enough juice on its main USB port, the 1/2/176/276 all come with a 5.5mm DC Barrel to USB Type-A cable, which allows you to piggyback off the other USB inputs on your computer or use the USB to wall socket adaptor found on a Smart Phone Charger for additional power.

Due to the amount of power needed to run the increased I/O on the 476, it always needs to be used with a power supply (included).

Record Anytime, Anywhere.

The small footprint of all 5 models in the range is perfect for a home recording desktop set up and easily transportable for field/on-location recording environments.

When using your Volt for field-based recording or “on-location”, you can make your setup even easier to transport due to its compatibility with iOS Smart Devices. You can use the high-quality sound-recording capabilities of Volt with your iPhone, iPad or iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro can provide enough juice to power Volt 1/2/176/276 for truly portable location recording/production.

When using an iPhone or iPad, simply plug the 5.5mm DC Barrel to USB Type-A cable (included) into the wall plug part of your phone/tablet charger (Volt 1/2/176/276 can use any 5V 1amp external USB PSU*). Then you can use full Volt features and run 2 channels of 48V phantom with iOS Garageband and similar iOS audio recording apps.

*Volt 476 and 476P will need the 5V 2amp power supply (included).
